The Final Destination franchise is back — and this time, it digs into the past. “Final Destination: Bloodlines” (2025) is a prequel that explores how Death’s deadly design first began. If you’re a fan of the original movies, you’ll find the familiar thrills and shocking moments that made the series a horror classic — but with a deeper story this time around.
Set in 2000, the film follows a young woman named Stefani (played by Brec Bassinger) who escapes a tragic accident that kills several people. Just like in past movies, surviving the accident doesn’t mean she’s safe — because Death is still coming, one by one, for everyone who escaped. But this time, we get more than just scary deaths. We also learn about the origin of the “design” and why it keeps repeating.
The movie does a great job bringing back the tension and surprise kills fans love. Some of the death scenes are really creative — they’ll have you holding your breath. The film uses practical effects mixed with just enough CGI to make everything look real but not overdone.
Tony Todd returns in his mysterious role, which fans will love. His appearance adds an eerie touch and ties the story back to the older films in a smart way. The cast is decent overall, with Brec Bassinger standing out. She brings both fear and strength to her role, making her easy to root for.
